The travel and hotel booking service named the most popular foreign holiday destinations among Russians for the New Year holidays. At the top were Belarus, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Abkhazia and Italy. This year, New Year’s trips will cost much more: compared to last year, the increase in booking prices reaches 95%.
Belarus, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Abkhazia, Turkey and Italy have become the most popular foreign destinations for Russians to spend the New Year holidays. This was reported by RBC with reference to data from travel and hotel booking services.
On Yandex.Travel, the leaders in popularity were Belarus, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Abkhazia and Turkey. During the New Year holidays last year, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates took the top spots behind Uzbekistan and Italy.
The absolute leader in bookings with MTS Travel was Belarus, whose share of bookings in Russia and the CIS countries amounted to 7%. In addition, customers preferred to book holidays in Abkhazia and Uzbekistan, and in the direction of non-CIS countries – in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
In the Ostrovok service, Belarus also became the leader in reserves. Thailand is in second place with a 56% year-on-year increase in bookings. Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Italy also came out on top in Ostrovok.
Accommodation in hotels abroad during the New Year holidays has significantly increased in price this year: an average of 51%. In Belarus, a hotel night will cost an average of 7.7 thousand rubles, Thailand – 8.4 thousand rubles, United Arab Emirates – 31.1 thousand rubles, Italy – 11.1 thousand rubles.
