Apple Vision Pro has not yet begun to be sold, the company is already developing two new versions of the helmet, writes Bloomberg.
The technical part of the work on the first Vision Pro was completed several months ago. This server begins development of new models, including a budget version and a very powerful version, which is superior in performance to Vision Pro.
Engineers want to make the helmet lighter and smaller. During testing of the Vision Pro, it was noted that some users found the helmet very heavy even when worn for a short time. Apple could solve this problem by changing the light strap that goes over the head.
Another challenge for engineers is to make the helmet suitable for people with poor vision. During development, Vision Pro decided to reduce the size of the device by eliminating the space for glasses. Apple will sell Zeiss lenses that attach magnetically to the helmet’s screen. Apple’s operations department is most unhappy about this because these measures are meant to improve the supply of thousands of lenses to the Apple Store.
The company is considering making a custom helmet with pre-installed lenses. But this could equate Apple to the status of a health care provider, which in the US imposes additional liability.
The new version of Vision Pro is probably still in the early stages of development, so Apple’s plans may still change frequently. [Bloomberg]
