Qualcomm has announced a new series of Snapdragon X processors for PCs.
The company claims that Snapdragon X will be a “game changer for the PC industry” with “next-level performance.”
ARM chips will be produced under the Snapdragon X brand. The central processor will be built on technology from the startup Nuvia, which brings together former Apple Silicon developers. Nuvia is expected to provide the same performance and power efficiency as Apple processors.
Interestingly, Qualcomm is currently suing Arm due to violations of licensing agreements by Nuvia. Arm claims that the licenses granted to Nuvia became invalid after the company was sold to Qualcomm.
In addition to the powerful processor, Snapdragon X chips are a separate module for on-device artificial intelligence processing and a 5G modem.
The first Snapdragon X processors will be released in 2024.
