The U.S. Department of Defense will review deployment plans for the aircraft carriers USS Gerald Ford and USS Dwight Eisenhower to maintain the appropriate balance of maritime capabilities across theaters and support national security priorities, a spokesman said.

In the coming weeks, the strike group under Eisenhower will deploy from Virginia to the Mediterranean for routine exercises under the auspices of the Pentagon’s European Command.

The United States recently deployed the aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford to the eastern Mediterranean, underscoring its role in preventing further escalation of hostilities around Israel.
