Smart Retail LLC, which operates express delivery service Samokat, established Smart Factory LLC on October 9. Activities include the production of meat products, preserves, soups, sandwiches, fish processing, etc.

Samokat delivery service aims to produce products.

The new company was headed by Vitaly Levin, who between 2006 and 2014 headed the same management at Magnit in the production of finished products “Kubansky Culinary”, writes Kommersant.

Samokat told the publication that they are studying the effectiveness of new formats that are popular among users.

Having your own factory will improve profitability and control over product quality, experts say, but they warn of difficulties in finding a location, equipment and personnel.

In January 2023, Samokat launched a category with agricultural products on the app: “Weekend Market”. There you can order vegetables, fruits, dairy products, bread, meats and fish. Products are delivered from Thursday to Monday evening in 1.5 hours.
