Apple Watch Series 1 was introduced alongside Series 2 in 2016. The Series 2 featured a brighter display, built-in GPS, and improved water resistance, while the Series 1 retained most of the original model’s hardware but featured a faster chip. This made them a more affordable option, priced at $369, which is $100 cheaper than the Series 2.
Both Series 1 and Series 2 watches received software updates until mid-2020; watchOS 6 was the last compatible version.
