Apple has developed a device to update the firmware in sealed iPhones, Bloomberg writes.
It was made on a video tablet on which you can place an iPhone box. After this, the gadget activates the iPhone wirelessly, downloads and installs the full version of iOS, and then turns off the smartphone. All this happens without opening the box and charging the iPhone.
The company plans to begin shipping new hardware to the Apple Store by the end of 2023.
This device allows you to sell iPhones with the latest versions of iOS, which often fix bugs from the first releases. For example, the iPhone 15 was initially shipped with iOS 17, although iOS 17.0.1 had already been released before sales began. Apple later released iOS 17.0.3, which fixed the overheating problem, but users had to update the firmware themselves. [Bloomberg]
