Starting from October this year, the service will begin to notify owners of accounts that have not been used for more than 2.5 years that the relevance of their profile needs to be confirmed and protection strengthened.

In case of inactivity, the account will be permanently deleted after a series of notifications within one month.

This initiative aims to combat forgotten or lost accounts, which are often protected by old and less secure passwords.

Such accounts pose a potential threat as they can be used by attackers to access the user’s personal information.

To register your account, you just need to perform any action in one of Yandex services, such as sending a letter, saving a file to Drive, or writing a comment in Maps.

Otherwise, the profile will be deleted and the login information of the deleted accounts cannot be used again.

However, users who decide to give up their inactive account will be able to download the data stored in the account and delete the profile themselves if desired.
