Megafon, Beeline and Tele2 will refuse to charge fees for the distribution of Internet traffic from mobile devices. On September 18, the FAS ordered the big four operators to cancel Internet distribution tariffs, writes Izvestia.
Megafon canceled the fee for paid network anchoring in all tariff plans for subscribers from October 23, 2023. At the same time, individual technical failures related to the cancellation of tariffication for the distribution function can be observed during the month, the FAS reported.
Tele2 will cancel tariffs for connections for new subscribers from November 22, 2023 and for all existing customers from December 19. Beeline, depending on the service, is on all tariff plans with limited Internet packages until December 1, 2023.
MTS refused to comply with the requirements of the FAS, considering its actions legal. The service could initiate proceedings against this company for non-compliance with the order, the deadline for which expired on October 18, experts believe.
- MTS began notifying subscribers about the distribution of paid Internet from their devices in April 2023. It was reported that each time the “hotspot” is turned on, users will have a special Internet package activated for 49 rubles.
- Beeline introduced a fee for this service in 2019. The media reported that the Tele2 operator began to charge 30 rubles per day for turning on an access point with new tariffs.
- According to experts interviewed by RB.RU, the function of connecting devices could cost the user up to 1.5 thousand rubles per month, in addition to the tariff.
