The new products are created using advanced 3-nanometer technology, which makes it possible to fit more transistors into a smaller space, increasing speed and efficiency.
The M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max are said to offer significant performance improvements and new features for the Mac. The new generation GPUs provide a record leap in graphics architecture, increasing processing speeds by up to 2.5 times compared to the M1 chip family.
The processors feature a faster Neural Engine as well as improved performance and efficiency cores. In addition, the new multimedia engine now supports AV1 decoding, allowing videos from streaming services to be displayed more efficiently and in higher quality.
“Apple Silicon has completely redefined the Mac experience. Every aspect of its architecture was designed with performance and energy efficiency in mind,” said Joni Srugi, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Technologies.
The new processors support up to 128 GB of combined memory, opening up new working possibilities previously unimaginable on a laptop. They also feature an advanced Neural Engine to accelerate machine learning and an advanced media engine for hardware acceleration of the most popular video codecs.
