The management of the artificial intelligence-based marketing management service exeDrive accused the Demis group of stealing the results of its intellectual activity. Representatives of exeDrive prepared a pre-trial letter demanding that they stop using the development and pay compensation of 5 million rubles. Representatives of exeDrive told RB.RU about this.
In summer, Demis Group introduced the Demis AI marketing tool, which generates proposals based on audience portraits and offers an action plan for working with clients.
exeDrive, in turn, said that an accelerator for exeDrive marketers will be launched in 2022. It includes a professional development path for specialists, mentoring assistance and an artificial intelligence-based platform to assist in project management.
According to the company, the Demis AI product repeats some of the functions of the exeDrive AI platform and copies most of the text verbatim. To confirm the copy, the company ordered an examination from the ANO Forensic Investigation and Examination Center.
To resolve the situation, exeDrive proposes to stop using the results of intellectual activity and pay compensation in the amount of 5 million rubles. The lawyers sent the corresponding pre-trial letter to the Demis Group. Experts estimate that the exeDrive platform costs 30 million rubles.
“I, as the creator of exeDrive, cannot help but express my disappointment and concern that my flagship project was copied by the biggest player in the market: Demis Group. This undermines trust in the business environment and demonstrates a lack of respect for intellectual property and creative work,” said Yulia Volikova, founder of the exeDrive service.
He added that although the company hopes for a peaceful solution to the incident, it is willing to defend its interests in court.
UPDATE 15:28:
Demis Group responded to a request from RB.RU that when creating Demis AI, the company relied on Russian and international methods of developing marketing strategies.
“We have trained our service’s AI algorithms to apply common marketing techniques automatically to make the work of specialists easier,” the company explained.
Commenting on the claims, a service representative said the company had not received any official letter or other requests from the service. It was decided to contact exeDrive independently to further discuss the requirements, Demis Group said.
