Unlike trees that grow slowly and take time to recover, miscanthus allows you to harvest year after year. This product can be used to renew old agricultural land and enrich the soil. Georgy Batukhtina stated that up to 4 tons of cellulose can be obtained from one hectare of miscanthus plants.

The institute’s partner, JSC NPO Biotechkompolitik, plans to create a network of factories for the production of various products from the miscanthus plant. Pilot production is already being carried out in the Moscow region, and work on establishing factories in the Novosibirsk and Kaliningrad regions is currently ongoing. Batukhtin added that according to the plans, each of these factories can produce 10 thousand tons of products per year.

Besides cellulose production, Miscanthus can be used in carbon composite materials, biodegradable tableware, and other industries; This makes it a promising and environmentally beneficial source of raw materials.
