The Telecom Daily agency conducted a study of the local Internet among operators within the Moscow Ring Road and the metro.
According to them, MegaFon has become the leader in speed. Thus, the average download speed among subscribers of this tool reached 94.1 Mbit/s. This is almost 2 times more than its nearest competitor.
In terms of upload speed, MegaFon is in first place with 37.3 Mbit/s. The average speed on the Big Four networks is 28.6 Mbps.
The maximum speed in the capital at MegaFon is 516 Mbit/s. This is 34% better in comparison.
The average signal delay in Moscow is 46 milliseconds, in MegaFon it is 44 milliseconds. Upon successful loading of Kepler’s reference page (an indicator of network reliability), MegaFon scored above 99%.
MegaFon holds the lead in the near future, when the Internet is present both in Russia as a whole and in the capital. This is ensured, among other things, thanks to the development of modern telecom infrastructure, which affects not only all districts of Moscow, but also the metro. Our pace of updating basic indicators on city streets has increased 2.5 times compared to last year. Almost 200 kilometers of new high-frequency cable have already been laid in the underground, as a result, congestion in the network during peak hours has decreased by 67% in two years. This provides subscribers with stable voice speed and surfing the Internet at maximum speeds.
— MegaFon Director for Development in the Moscow direction Mikhail Prakhov
As for the Moscow metro, MegaFon showed the best result at stations – 184 Mbit/s (the average among telecom operators is 135 Mbit/s) and one of the best in stages – 123.8 Mbit/s.
