In fairness, it is worth noting that the desktop version was available before, but only on the messaging website. And at times, a QR code had to be scanned to sync the messaging app on the smartphone and computer.
This problem is now solved: the QR code will only need to be scanned once when installing from the App Store. Additionally, this gives WhatsApp additional built-in security tools within the Apple product ecosystem.
If this is your first time installing WhatsApp for macOS, you need to follow these steps:
-
download the desktop version from the Mac App Store;
-
connect your computer to your smartphone: you will need to scan the QR code following the instructions on your mobile device;
-
create an account.
