The study, published in the journal Nature, examines the complex arrangement of myosin filaments in heart sarcomeres, the basic units of muscle. Campbell’s team discovered three different types of myosin filament coronas that revealed a previously unknown level of precision in heart muscle control.

The results of the research may pave the way for the development of new drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
