Russian auction houses have teamed up to hold “Russian auctions” instead of Christie’s and Sotheby’s

The St. Petersburg and Moscow auction houses, as well as the Graphic Collectors Club auction house, were merged into one holding. He will run the so-called Russian auction, which Christie’s and Sotheby’s abandoned. RBC writes about this with reference to the press service of the holding company.

The first auction organized by the holding company will be held on December 3 at Bidspirit and will present a collection with an estimated total value of 500 million rubles. These are, in particular, the works of Ivan Aivazovsky, Boris Kustodiev, Ivan Shishkin and Nicholas Roerich.

The largest representatives of the auction market, Christie’s and Sotheby’s, refused to hold auctions for the sale of Russian art objects in the spring of 2022.
