Warren Buffett donated shares of his Berkshire Hathaway worth $866 billion to charity, which will go to charities associated with the Buffett family. The 93-year-old American billionaire is currently fifth on the list of the richest people on the planet.
Billionaire Warren Buffett has donated shares of his company Berkshire Hathaway to charities associated with his family. A total of $866 billion in stock was sent to charities, Reuters reported.
Four foundations will receive shares: the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, the Sherwood Foundation and the NoVo Foundation. The first deals with reproductive health issues, the other three are run by Buffett’s children, who are now between 65 and 70 years old.
Buffett again noted that almost all of his fortune will go to charity. 98% of Buffett’s wealth comes from Berkshire Hathaway shares. Buffett’s fortune is estimated at $120 billion and he ranks fifth on the list of the richest people on the planet.
