The Bank of Russia has allowed Russians to make transfers through the Faster Payment System (FPS) to five countries, Izvestia has learned. These include Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus.
According to Alla Bakina, head of the national department of payment systems at the Bank of Russia, integration solutions for cross-border transactions exist both at the level of the entire infrastructure and at the level of each bank.
Now transfers are available, in particular, from Alfa Bank and VTB. The Alfa Bank application indicates that these types of operations are available in Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The bank’s press service explained that transfers arrive instantly and the commission is 0.5% of the amount sent. For transfers through the SBP, 1 million rubles are available per day.
Additionally, before the end of the year, RSHB is preparing to connect the service. As for transfers from abroad to the Russian Federation, according to the SBP, such an operation can only be carried out from one country.
According to the head of the Vepay payment service, Georgy Nikonov, the service will be in demand among relocated people.
The tool will also be convenient for migrant workers. As Alexey Tarapovsky, founder of Anderida Financial Group, points out, Russians who have issued cards abroad will be able to top them up using SBP.
Earlier, the Central Bank published a draft according to which banks will be obliged to allow clients to make payments to the budget through the SBP.
As a recent study by the Bank of Russia showed, at the end of the third quarter of the year, the number of purchases paid through SBP increased by almost 40% compared to the second quarter. The average amount of transfers through this service has also increased.
