The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of the Russian Federation has opened a case against Sberbank and SberStrakhovanie Life Insurance, the agency said in a statement.

FAS opened a case against Sberbank and SberStrakhovanie Life Insurance for imposition of services

The service found in the actions of the companies signs of the conclusion of an anti-competitive agreement.

Previously, FAS received requests from citizens to impose the Domklik Plus service package, which includes a life and health insurance policy from SberLife Insurance and other services.

Its purchase made it possible to receive a 1% discount on the interest rate under a mortgage loan agreement with Sberbank.

“In the opinion of the service, the offer of Sberbank and SberStrakhovanie Life Insurance to obtain a loan on more favorable terms only if additional services are purchased from an insurer specified by the bank limits other market participants and citizens,” the FAS concluded.

If the antitrust authority determines that the companies are at fault, they will face fines based on the amount of revenue.

Previously, the FAS warned that it could take antitrust measures against another major player in the Russian market – Yandex.Taxi.
