According to him, an improved microphone is primarily necessary for Siri’s new generative AI features. It will be better able to separate voice from external noise, which will “significantly improve Siri’s performance.” The microphone will also be better protected from water.
The suppliers will continue to be AAC and Goertek. Microphones for the iPhone 16 will rise in price by 100-150% compared to the iPhone 15.
Kuo believes that Siri’s new features will be key competitors to the iPhone 16. Many of them will not work on older iPhones.
