Cybercriminals in Russia will be most active in January, March, May, July, August, November and December 2024. Certain calendar events occur during these months. StormWall specialists do not rule out attacks on the public sector, the media, the fuel and energy complex and the manufacturing industry, writes TASS.
In January, against the backdrop of the New Year holidays, the entertainment sector and transportation companies are under attack. On the eve of March 8, DDoS attacks on retail are possible.
In May, the financial sector and telecommunications, as well as retail and entertainment, could be affected. The July college admissions drive may force hackers to target colleges.
Attacks on retail will resume in August, but this time due to preparations for the new school year, and in November, due to Black Friday. Online retailers and logistics companies should prepare for attacks in December ahead of the upcoming holidays.
According to Angara Security, the number of politically motivated cyber attacks will increase in 2024. This will be affected by the geopolitical situation and new methods of fraudsters. In 2022, the number of such attacks against Russian organizations increased by 120%, analysts noted.
