There are still some gaps in one of the functions of Microsoft’s Copilot artificial intelligence (AI). Users of the chatbot in the Microsoft Edge browser noticed that: Cannot summarize any type of video posted by YouTube.
This functionality was revealed by Microsoft last week and allows anyone to ask the chatbot for the main topics of a video. In addition to listing the most relevant information, Copilot even records the most important moments of the minute.
Okay, Microsoft Edge’s new feature that creates video summaries of the content you watch is pretty cool!

User Pietro Schirano posted an example on social network X, formerly Twitter, showing the feature working perfectly. In this case, he asked for a summary of a clip with details from the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer and got exactly what he wanted.
However, there is still a significant limitation in this function: Co-Pilot can only “read” a clip published on the video platform if it meets certain AI prerequisites.
According to Mikhail Parakhin, head of Microsoft’s web services division, Copilot requires the video to have automatic captions, created in the clip’s original language and based on YouTube’s voice recognition.
Besides, the AI itself needs to “pre-process” the video to extract some information. If the clip does not have automatic captions or is pre-processed, Copilot will not be able to summarize it for you. The manager commented on the case on his profile on the social network X, formerly Twitter.
“Video summaries are available on a limited number of sites and only for videos with transcripts. We will be making video summaries available on more sites soon,” the notice on Copilot says. subtitles.
In tests conducted by TecMundo Using the Copilot sidebar in Microsoft Edge, we were able to summarize informative videos published on our YouTube channel. However, clips containing the best moments of a football match caused the above message to emerge.
