Despite US restrictions, Huawei’s progress in developing AI chips is clear: The Ascend 910B will be used in Huawei’s cloud infrastructure and is already being ordered by major Chinese companies such as Baidu.

Meanwhile, Chinese CSPs such as Baidu and Alibaba are investing heavily in developing their own AI chips, led by Baidu’s Kunlunxin and Alibaba’s Hanguang 800.

US sanctions create barriers to high-tech development in China, impacting its ability to implement advanced processes and compete with global leaders such as Nvidia and AMD; But despite the challenges, China continues to strive to build a full-fledged AI ecosystem.
