It turned out that in 63% of cases the Russian YandexGPT 2 neural network was more effective in responding in Russian compared to the GPT 3.5 language model of the American OpenAI. This was revealed in tests where both neural networks answered the same queries and AI trainers chose the best answer without knowing which service provided it.

The test questions were created based on real user requests for the YandexGPT 2 neural network in Yandex products. When choosing the best answer, experts took into account various issues that reflect people’s real needs.

Yandex Search Technical Director Alexey Gusakov emphasized that neural networks benchmarks are aimed not only at obtaining abstract numerical indicators in a benchmark, but at improving the functionality of the product and developing new features. Under development, YandexGPT has already been implemented in the Alice voice assistant.
