Photos of an early working prototype of AirPower wireless charging have appeared online.
This version received 15 coils, in later versions their number increased to 22. Rebooting after loading the lines with the command to initiate automatically allows you to read a large amount of information from the prototype. For example, the firmware installation date is March 17, 2017, the command for selecting specific coils, and much more.

Insider Kosutami, who shared the pictures, said that the gadget gets very hot, confirming past rumors about maintaining stability. Charging works stably only if you accurately place other devices on it. But as soon as you move it a little, the temperature is suddenly announced, causing the instruments to follow them.
The AirPods Pro charging case even began to melt slightly at this temperature.
Apple increased the number of coils inside the AirPower to mitigate the problem as much as possible, but found that higher ceiling coils only made the overheating worse. No AirPower prototypes were created in 2018 or 2019, suggesting that the device was almost entirely developed in 2017 or earlier. There was almost no further development of the idea.
