The iPhone 15 Pro Max was released in September this year and naturally replaces the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which was released in 2022. Apple releases new iPhones every year and usually has 3 purchasing options: standard version, Plus, Pro and Pro Max.

The Pro Max Apple smartphone series brings the latest features along with the most modern hardware, design and structure. These devices get the most complete set of cameras compared to the Pro and standard models.

The Pro Max also gets some improvements like a brighter display. For example, in the case of the iPhone 15, only the Pro Max and Pro use the company’s high-end chipset along with 8 GB of RAM. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus use last year’s chipset with 6 GB of RAM.

So is the 15 Pro Max really superior enough to the 14 Pro Max to justify the switch? Check out the key features of both devices and see if they’re worth it:

iPhone 15 Pro Max has a modern design and is made of forged titanium. Rely on the A17 Pro chip, configurable Action button, and the most powerful camera system in an iPhone.

iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display and Full HD + resolution. The device is equipped with Apple A17 Pro chipset and has 8 GB RAM with a maximum storage of 1 TB. It weighs around 221 grams and has a frame made of titanium, making it more fragile against drops than the previous model.

Another design change is the addition of the action button, which can be configured to open a specific application or activate a feature based on the user’s preference. The Lightning connection has been replaced by the USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port, which is faster for file transfer. The device leaves the factory with iOS 17 and should receive at least 5 years of updates.

The 15 Pro Max has an array of rear cameras with three sensors (48 Mp + 12 Mp + 12 Mp). Its standout feature is the 5x optical zoom. The front camera is 12 MP.

The new processor does not offer a noticeable performance increase in practice, but it is more economical. This provides the new generation mobile phone with a much longer battery life under moderate use.

iPhone 14 Pro Max It has a 12.0 MP front camera and a 48.0 + 12.0 + 12.0 MP rear camera. 6.7″ screen, 5G connectivity and 4K movies at 24cps.

The top-end 2022 model has the same screen as its successor with a 120 Hz refresh rate, but the maximum brightness is lower, which affects the visibility of content in sunlight, for example. The mobile phone is equipped with the Apple A16 Bionic chipset and has a maximum storage of up to 1TB along with 6GB of RAM. It is slightly heavier, around 240 grams, and its frame is made of stainless steel.

The audio system, like its successor, is stereo and has excellent volume and sound quality. The physical connection is Lightning 2.0, which is slower to transfer files than the new model.

The camera set of the 14 Pro Max is also the same as that of its successor, except for the loss of a few improvements. The most important of these is the optical zoom, which is 3x in this model. Therefore, shots taken using maximum zoom are inadequate.

Which of the two devices is more valuable?

iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro Max are mobile phones that are very similar to each other not only in terms of design but also in terms of performance and usability. The latest model brings minor improvements that may only be noticed by advanced users looking for certain features.

In daily life, 15 pro Max can offer a more practical use thanks to the action button. It also provides better visibility in bright outdoor environments. It’s lighter, its battery lasts longer, and its cameras take better shots in a wide variety of situations.

Overall, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is a superior smartphone compared to its predecessor, but the changes are very subtle. The performance of both devices is almost the same, but they transfer files much faster thanks to the USB-C 3.2 Gen2 connection. The downsides of the latest model are the extra time required to charge the battery to 100% and the reduced resistance to drops. Moreover, according to the prices on the Apple Brazil website, it is slightly more expensive than the previous model.
