Currently, the Japanese company has sold 50 million game consoles worldwide. This milestone was reached on December 9, 2023, meaning the console is now just a week behind the PlayStation 4’s sales pace.

In July, when 40 million consoles were sold, PS5 was two months behind PS4.

Note that the launch of the PS5 was complicated by severe stock issues due to worldwide component shortages, which led to persistent shortages of consoles on the market for the first two years after launch.

Interestingly, PS5 sales in the US were down slightly in November compared to last year. This happened in November 2022, as PS5 stock issues began to be resolved in the US, leading to a significant increase in sales.
