The deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Viktor Evtukhov believes that the exit of the Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo will in no way affect the Russian market. According to the politician, domestic producers “are capable of perfectly substituting” the products of a foreign company.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is not concerned about the possible complete withdrawal of Uniqlo from Russia

“Our companies, which we presented at various international exhibitions, where they also received awards, can perfectly replace these products,” RIA quotes the deputy minister.

Yevtukhov added that the Russian brands are “much better in quality, design and style” than Uniqlo’s. In addition, the vacant niche, according to the representative of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, can be filled with “good products” from “friendly” countries.

This week, Kommersant said that Uniqlo might finally exit the Russian market. The Japanese company suspended work in the Russian Federation in March last year against the background of the start of a special operation in Ukraine.
