Tesla may lose its lead in global electric vehicle sales. Chinese concern BYD could overtake Elon Musk’s company in the current quarter, Bloomberg predicts.
Chinese company BYD can take the lead in global sales of electric vehicles. Bloomberg published a forecast that this could happen as early as this quarter.
Currently, Elon Musk’s Tesla ranks first in electric vehicle sales in the world. So far, it is ahead of BYD in key financial indicators, but in 2024 the situation may change, analysts surveyed by the agency believe: Tesla’s revenue amounted to $114 billion versus $112 billion for BYD.
One of BYD’s main advantages is its own production of batteries for electric vehicles. The emergence of the Chinese consortium as the world leader in sales of electric cars will be a turning point for the market and a confirmation of China’s growing influence in the automotive industry, the agency notes.
