3 best programs of 2023 that I use regularly. You know, not everyone

We stopped going to the App Store a long time ago to look for something new and interesting. For the last time, the store opens the opportunity to update an already installed application or download another client of the sanctioned bank.

I would like to recommend five excellent programs that were discovered (including) entirely in 2023. Some are paid, but that shouldn’t be a problem if you’re interested in them:

1. Nomad Sculpt: editing and creating 3D objects

There are many programs for iOS, scientists open and save 3D object files. But so far, none of them have achieved the functionality and relative ease of use of Nomad Sculpt.

Nomad Sculpt Allows you to make edits to files. glTF, life safety fundamentals And STL. This is one of the most popular formats for 3D objects. Using your finger or Apple Pencil, you can create, deeply save, and then render any model, including complex ones. It’s not very easy to figure out on a whim, but among it, it seems to be the most functional and stable solution.

I first bought the app for my son, who is interested in this topic, but now he uses it himself to make changes to 3D printing models, which he began to get interested in relatively recently.

Of course, there is not even a close alternative to Blender, and from an engineering point of view this program is not very suitable. But otherwise, it’s hard to find something better, especially for the money.

The application works on iPad and iPhone, but on the latter it is difficult to use due to the number of buttons and menus, which are not intuitively written. Therefore, I advise you to use the program on the iPad, especially for the first time. And use the iPhone version only if you press it and there is no tablet nearby.

2. Publication: cleaning “heavy” videos and similar photos

Throughout 2023, I regularly filled up my iCloud storage. More precisely, not me, the rest of the family. Release entire expenses for the concerts I do for publication every time. I consider this application to be the best among all analogues, even taking into account the fact that it is paid.

The publication sorts the entire Photos library by content type and file size, and also find good, but not completely identical images. These can be several ways to take a good photo, chain screenshots, and much more that you no longer need, but clog up the device’s memory and cloud storage.

Then, in a convenient interface, you choose which of the similar photos you will keep and which you will delete.

The strength of Duplicatus specifically is the use of the neurochip of Apple gadgets for all tasks. Thanks to this program, image data is not sent to the server. You can use it completely without the Internet.

I regularly use Duplicatus a couple of times a month on the devices of the whole family (there is support for family access for subscriptions). I like that you can sort videos by file size, select a date range, check your Favorites. Using my program, I remove almost random amounts of work-related photos per month. And for my son, I clear out his ten screen recordings from games that contain hundreds of gigabytes in iCloud.

3. Draw Things: image generation and neural network training Stable diffusion

I think this is the fourth time I’ve written about Draw Things. I can’t do anything, the application is usually used on my devices, and the developer sets records for the frequency of program updates.

In case you missed it, Draw Things is objectively better absolutely free (and without advertising!) Interface for generating images using the Stable Diffusion neural network of all versions and types. Here everything is created exclusively on your device and its processor, offline, and not on some obscure server on the Internet.

You enter a request in English, click on the button and in 30-40 seconds you create a finished image. Even Stable Diffusion XL Turbo is supported, giving breathtakingly cool results many times faster than before. To work, you need to download many gigabytes of neural network files once, but the result is worth it.

Among its distinctive features are complete altruism and, without exaggeration, the technical savvy of the developer. Having created the most famous, functional and completely local open source tool, he still refuses any monetization project, and at the same time steadily, gradually raises the bar for neurogeneration capabilities on Apple gadgets. I really haven’t seen this in the App Store for years.

The program was used several times not only in its pure form, but also for work purposes, including generating backgrounds for images in articles. I once changed the background on a product photo here, and no one noticed. I can’t count how many pictures I made here solely “for fun.”

You can upload your checkpoints directly into the program or use a ready-made library. And in 2023, the opportunity finally appeared to train your natural preparations in photographs and other images. For example, you can throw a few frames into another, and then create literally anything with any of the main videos.
