BeamO is equipped with photoplethysmography (PPG), electrodes, digital stethoscope, and updated infrared temperature sensor. PPG sensors, similar to those used in smartwatches, measure heart rate through the skin, and electrodes allow ECG.

But the special feature of BeamO is its built-in stethoscope, which uses a piezoelectric disk to record sounds coming from the chest or back and converts them into an electrical signal. Users can listen to the signal through a headphone adapter or transmit it to healthcare professionals during telemedicine sessions.

While these health-saving features aren’t new, BeamO’s innovation lies in combining them into an affordable device for the whole family. However, Withings needs FDA approval, and approval processes could delay the device’s launch.
