In Kazakhstan, starting January 9, the tourist tax for foreigners that was previously in force will be canceled. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic.
A zero rate will now be applied in Kazakhstan, the report states. Local authorities introduced the accommodation tax for foreigners in January 2022; At the beginning of last year, rates ranging between 1% and 5% of the cost of living were established throughout the republic.
Previously, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerzhan Erkinbayev stated that the tourist tax creates certain inconveniences for both local businesses and arriving foreign tourists.
