Google aims to expand the functionality of digital IDs and integrate it into the “unique guidelines” of each American state. So far, digital IDs have been used in Arizona, Colorado and Georgia.
According to Google Wallet Product Management Director Dong Min Kim, digital identities will be designed to take into account each state’s complex and different governance rules to implement different situations in the Wallet. And such identities can be made more flexible compared to standardized mobile payments and digital payment cards. To do this, Google must work with each state individually.
