It is possible that Aurus cars will begin to be assembled at the former Toyota plant in St. Petersburg. The company is already looking for employees in the city. Now they are produced in Yelabuga. Kommersant writes about this.
According to the publication’s interlocutors, interest in the St. Petersburg plant arose in the context of Gazprom’s plans to participate in the project. The company in Shushary belongs to FSUE NAMI, the main shareholder of Aurus.
Analysts believe that the Toyota plant is more suitable for Aurus than for the assembly of Almaz-Antey trucks, as we have already discussed above.
Aurus LLC was created at the end of 2017 on the basis of NAMI-auto. Initially, 75% of the company belonged to NAMI, the remaining 25% to Sollers, which became the productive partner of the project.
In 2019, the Tawazun fund from the United Arab Emirates bought a 36% stake in Aurus for €110 million, which the investment company was to invest in production within three years.
