Asia is the fastest growing tourist destination for Russians. Yandex.Travel analysts came to this conclusion after studying data on airline ticket searches and hotel reservations.
The results of the study were shared by Izvestia. Japan became the leader in popularity growth: in 2023, Russian tourists visited this country 6.7 times more than in 2022. On average, a round-trip flight costs travelers 81 thousand rubles, and accommodation in a three-star hotel, from 3.3 thousand rubles per night.
In addition, demand for travel to Indonesia (+393%), the Philippines (+345%), Thailand (+203%) and South Korea (+195%) increased several times. Russians began traveling to India (+97%) and China (+77%) almost twice as often; Experts attribute this to the increase in the number of direct flights.
Demand for trips to Africa from service users has also increased significantly. The number of trips from Russia to South Africa has almost doubled and to Morocco – one and a half times.
