A project called Quandoom implemented the first level of the game using a quantum computer (or simulation).

The code itself can be run on a regular computer, although such a device does not yet exist. When running, the simulator uses 70,000 qubits and 80 million quantum gates for processing, resulting in 10-20 frames per second on a regular laptop.

The game involves using qubits to control input and create an image on the screen. However, the project is limited; It lacks the music, colorful images and many more features of the original game.

Still, it’s an interesting experiment that highlights the capabilities of quantum computers.

Note that the project was created as part of the humorous tradition of running DOOM on a variety of devices and is not intended for commercial use.
