Tesla has told suppliers it wants to begin production of the new electric vehicle, codenamed Redwood, in mid-2025. Reuters writes about this, citing its own sources.
According to the publication, we are talking about a compact crossover. Perhaps this is the same $25 thousand car that Elon Musk wanted to release.
With its help, Tesla could carve out a new niche and compete with the older company BYD, which recently overtook Tesla in the production of electric vehicles.
In addition, the new low-cost electric car could be used as a robotaxi. Musk planned to launch it in 2024.
Last year, Musk said the new car would initially be produced at Tesla’s Texas plant. [Reuters]
