Applications that operate through alternative applications in EU countries instead of the App Store must go through a notarization stage.

At this stage, they received a signature from Apple confirming that the program is safe for the user and his device. The company is committed to ensuring that the apps are free of viruses, antivirus or other security risks, and that they function as promised without exploiting “blatant fraud” users.

What is included in this verification stage:

Quantity. Applications must closely match the developer’s requirements, capabilities, and costs for users.

Functionality. Binaries must be viewable, free of major bugs or glitches, and compatible with the current version of iOS. The software or hardware may not be manipulated in a manner consistent with the user’s experience.

Human safety. Applications cannot cause harm to the user or the public.

Device Security. Applications cannot include the distribution of legacy programs, suspicious or unwanted software. They also cannot download executable code, run in a container, or guide users about security issues on their system or device. Applications should also provide transparency and better allow access to a system or device or override the system or other software.

Confidentiality. Applications cannot collect or transmit personal, sensitive data without the user’s knowledge or in a manner that defeats the stated purpose of the software.

Some checks will be carried out automatically, and some will be done with human help.

Apple plans to encrypt and sign all iOS apps destined for alternative stores. This ensures that applications from reputable developers are used and that intellectual property is protected.

Such applications will be double checked during installation to identify fake programs and will not be installed through the browser.

Applications in which, after installing detected known competitive software, will be prohibited from running on the user’s device, the new installation will be disabled.

Apple provides summary information about apps and their features that users can review before deciding to install apps through an alternative store.
