The operator increased data transmission speeds in 11 urban districts: Naro-Fominsk, Shatura, Pushkino, Orekhovo-Zuevo, Istra, Noginsk, Yegoryevsk, Mytishchi, Ruza, Sergiev Posad and Shchelkovo.
Engineers replaced the radio relay lines and installed new, more capable systems with data transfer rates of up to 3 Gbit/s. Now subscribers can use the internet with an average speed of 45 Mbit/s, allowing them to download fast files and watch movies in high resolution.
Mobile traffic in these districts increases by 10-15 percent during the spring months. For example, in the Sergiev Posad region, it increases by 10%, reaching 400 TB per month. The updated infrastructure was made ready for the increased traffic during the arrival of summer residents and tourists, making the internet connection more stable.
MegaFon’s development director in the Moscow region, Mikhail Prakhov, emphasized that the modernization is aimed at providing high-quality communications in periods of increased activity.
