Netflix noted the growing influence of artificial intelligence in Hollywood and added generative AI to its list of risk factors in its annual report filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
According to Variety, in accordance with SEC rules, in its 10-K report, Netflix listed a long list of risk factors in the competition section in the video space, where this year there was a place for AI.
“If our competitors gain an advantage by using [технологий генеративного ИИ]“our ability to compete effectively and our results of operations could be adversely affected,” the report said.
Netflix also expressed concerns about copyright and other intellectual property protection measures for materials generated by neural networks. According to the company, the development of AI could influence the number of lawsuits against Netflix in this area.
In the spring of 2023, the Writers Guild of America announced its largest strike since 1988, lasting from May 2 to September 27. One of its reasons was the issue of the use of artificial intelligence in the film production process, which film studios refused to regulate.
