The Federal Tax Service filed a lawsuit for 12.9 billion rubles against the Russian legal entity IKEA. A lawsuit was filed with the Moscow Arbitration Court against Ikea Torg LLC, which is still owned by the owner of IKEA’s parent company, the Swedish Ingka Holdings.
The Moscow Arbitration Court received a lawsuit from the Federal Tax Service against Ikea Torg LLC. The amount of claims is 12.9 billion rubles, their composition is not specified, Kommersant reported with reference to the court file.
Russia’s Ikea Torg LLC remains owned by the parent company of furniture retailer IKEA, the Swedish group Ingka Holdings. Previously, Ikea Torg LLC was the exclusive importer of IKEA products.
Swedish retailer IKEA closed stores in Russia in March 2022 and the company subsequently announced the sale of its factories in the country.
