Snapchat owner Snap Inc. has requested a recall of all 71,000 Pixy drones sold. It was discovered that The device’s battery poses a fire risk. Obviously, all consumers will be refunded as appropriate.

Snap and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommend that all consumers immediately stop using Pixy, remove the battery, and discontinue charging.

Until now, Four battery swells, one fire and one injury accident were reported.

Consumers do not need a receipt to request a refund. Just apply for the Snap recall program and get your $185 (approximately R$ 920) back. For this reason, even people who received the product as a gift can return it.

During the return process, the entire device, except the batteries, must be returned. Snap recommends that the battery be disposed of in a safe place, but not stored at home or in collection centres.

Pixy’s end came early

Pixy drones were first introduced in April 2022, but the deal didn’t go very far: after about four months, the device was discontinued and updated versions were not available. The time spent in stores was enough to sell 71 thousand devices.

At the time, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel described the device as “the world’s friendliest flying camera.” The device weighs only 101 grams, records 2.7K resolution video and 12 MP photos; Moreover, it does all of this without the need for a remote control.
