At the end of last year, Logitech launched the Brio 100, an entry-level webcam that promises to offer excellent value for money. One of the differences of the equipment is that it offers clearer images and reduces shadows, with the offer being able to be used in business meetings and video calls with friends and family.
Logitech electronics feature a built-in mono microphone, connectivity via USB-A and Plug and Play cable, and are compatible with major calling platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Zoom.
Brio 100, one of Logitech’s currently cheapest webcams, is offered in black and graphite color options. But does it deliver on its promises? HE TecMundo Brio tested the 100 webcam and tells you whether it’s worth it!
Brio 100 camera and microphone
The Brio 100 webcam always shoots 1080p or 720p video at 30 frames per second, has a 58° diagonal field of view and automatic lighting balance. In Full HD mode, the camera can record with excellent quality and resolution even in not very bright environments.
When taking photos, the webcam shoots at 2.1MP and captures images with an aspect ratio of 1920 x 1080. Its focus is fixed and the zoom is only 1x.
Light correction is carried out using RightLight technology, which promises an increase in brightness of up to 50%. The function in question is that it will reduce shadows and make the environment brighter. Check out some recordings of the webcam image taken in various lighting conditions below:
It is possible to see from the recordings that the webcam has some difficulty in making the image clearer in low light conditions. In places with plenty of light, the Brio 100 has no trouble keeping everything sharp. And in fact, the webcam may suffer from light burn-in if the light source is too strong in the environment.
When it comes to microphones, Brio 100 impresses with its quality. With its different qualities (16000, 32000 and 48000 Hz), it offers sound reproduction with almost no noise or hiss. Perhaps the only point worth paying attention to is the microphone sound. The audio remains at normal volume when you use the webcam from a distance of about 80cm, making it necessary to increase the capture slightly to improve the experience.
Simple installation
Since its target audience is those who carry out their business activities from home, the Brio 100 webcam values extreme simplicity in connection. It has a USB-A port and a plug-and-play system, so you just need to connect it to your notebook or computer and use it without any installation.
However, one of the points to be considered is the clip that secures the electronics.. It’s pretty simple and doesn’t rely on much stickiness. If you shake the table hard, the webcam will definitely fall. Another downside is that it is not tripod compatible, so it will need to be carefully attached to the top of a monitor or laptop and there is a risk of it tipping over.
Another promise of the camera is security. To protect the user’s privacy, it has a shutter that can be slid to cover the lens when your meetings are over and no longer in use.
And as with other equipment, as soon as the Brio 100 is turned on, a white light turns on to the right of the lens, indicating that images are being captured.
Brio 100 value for money
The Brio 100 webcam is one of Logitech’s most affordable webcams. With a catalog of PC cameras exceeding R$ 7,000, the approximately R$ 270 charged for the Brio 100 is actually quite cheap.
But, There are cheaper entry-level webcams on the market, like Logitech’s own C270. However, it is worth noting that the C270 has lower quality than the Brio 100 because the recordings are not Full HD.
If we take other brands into account, it is possible to find Full HD devices under R$ 250, such as the Lenovo 300 (at the time of writing this review, its price on Lenovo’s official website was R$ 170) and the Rapoo C260 (about R$ 150).
Therefore, whether you choose Brio 100 or not will depend on whether you have a brand preference or not. If you like Logitech, Brio 100 makes more sense. If you just look at the price you can find similar and cheaper products.
Is Brio 100 worth it?
Although it is an entry-level webcam, Brio 100 is worth it for its excellent audio and video quality and great value for money. The device has problems in low-light environments but can record/take good quality photos.
Audio capture is also quite satisfactory as there is no noise. The Brio 100’s microphone also shows a good level, managing to perform relatively well even in tests playing music in the environment, making it possible to clearly distinguish between voice and music.
Due to its most basic construction, the Brio 100 does not offer the best stability or the best construction as it is made entirely of plastic. However, these are some of the negative points of the device.
All in all, the Brio 100’s performance makes the device a great option for anyone who uses electronics exclusively, whether in business meetings in the home office or video calls with family.
