The Kaliningrad company Avtotor will begin production of a new line of domestic electric vehicles under the Amberauto brand. The manufacturer reported this on its website.
The core of the line will be compact electric cars based on proprietary developments and authorized engineering solutions, the company explains. The company will produce both two- and four-seater models.
In addition, Avtotor will produce several models developed jointly with the company’s partners. The company emphasizes that the models are adapted for use in Russia and have prospects for high localization.
For the production of automobiles, 12 new factories will be opened in the Kaliningrad region, where the production of both automobiles and their components will be located.
The new facilities will assemble electric motors, produce regulators, traction batteries, develop power electronics and others. Part of the cluster will be inaugurated this year.
Previously, Avtotor and the Ministry of Industry and Trade began to implement a project to create all-Russian production of electric vehicles. Investments in the project exceed 70 billion rubles.
At the end of last year, Avtotor and Moscow Polytechnic showed a mule of a domestic electric vehicle of the L7 category.
