In Moscow, together with the Chinese embassy and within the framework of the Years of Culture of Russia and China (2024 – 2025) announced by Vladimir Putin, they are preparing to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
The holiday itself will take place today on February 10th. Unlike the Russians, the Chinese will celebrate 4721. It will be celebrated in the Middle Kingdom until February 28.
The capital is already being decorated in full for this event. Thematic decorations are hung in the center, New Year’s lanterns and various installations are placed. I walked through the center with the iPhone 15 Pro and showed what we have today.
The holiday is expected, but not everywhere yet

Even in the distant center, not all enterprises celebrate the holiday. However, on many streets the first reminders of the upcoming event have already been built.
In general, why is it now 4721 in China, and not 2024, like in Russia? The eastern calendar is based on a cycle whose duration is sixty years. This system was the result of the merger of the cycle of “Earthly branches” (12 years) and the cycle of “Heavenly branches” (5 years).
Unlike the western states, in the eastern countries there is no exact date for celebrating the New Year: it occurs on the second new moon after the winter sun. Typically, according to the Gregorian calendar, this day falls between January 21 and February 21.
Each year was dedicated to its patron. This year it was the Green Dragon. That is why this year, including ours, everything is dedicated to dragons.

So, among the already decorated places in Moscow, I found the following:
• Tverskaya Square
• Tverskoy Boulevard
• New Arbat
• Central Children’s Store (CDM)
Many decorations and decorations are still being built and finalized. But even now these elements look beautiful.
For example, a “Chinese ceiling” was made in Kamergersky Lane near Red Square. It is literally dotted with lanterns. Also in this regard, they are planning a link haute food fair.
A similar fair can be found on Tverskaya Square. The site where such events are usually held had already been decorated, but at the time of filming the entrance to the territory was closed.
But many people diligently take a few shots at the entrance. Although, to be honest, I didn’t understand the meaning of this body movement.
There’s nothing to see here for now. It is known that on the large arch, which remained from the “Western” New Year. Just added flashlights.

The iPhone handled the purchase of colors well and rendered them quite naturally. However, the photo with the monument to Yuri Dolgoruky turned out to be too light, and the dark elements then had a strong effect.
But where the lanterns hung in Kamergersky Lane, some of them became simply black, although such a shadow of power did not fall on them.

The most interesting strip at the moment is New Arbat. Returning at night, it is greatly transformed due to illuminated installations.
All pictures were taken in automatic mode literally on the go. And the iPhone coped well with them, even with 3x zoom, although without it at all.
During the entire time he did not need to be fixed in the frame, but took photographs instantly. At the same time, not a single object was blurred, a decent result.

It is expected that on February 10, VDNKh will also host a large procession with Chinese dragons, master classes and much more.
While visiting the exhibition, I did not discover any innovations. Apparently, they decided to post them until the last moment and prepare for celebrations and festivities in a more private mode.

So where to go and see this beauty?
There is an official list of venues where Chinese New Year celebrations are held. Among them:
• VDNH
• Tverskaya Square
• Tverskoy Boulevard
• Moscow Zoo
• New Arbat
• Kamergersky Lane
On Tverskoy Boulevard, the site will be decorated with a tunnel in red and gold colors, about the square, which I already talked about above, in Kamergersky Lane there will be a bright show with the participation of Chinese groups and there will be a fair of Chinese dishes. And from February 9 to 11, the zoo will have free admission for all Catherine and people in panda costumes.
Master classes on playing Go will be held on Arbat, and there will also be an open-air photo exhibition. At VDNKh you can visit the thematic exhibition “Terracotta Army. Immortal Warriors of China” and look at the “Sun of Moscow”, where a small festival of strong culture was held.
In general, there are places to go in Moscow this weekend. I strongly advise you not to sit at home or go for walks, despite the frost.
There is a reason to get outside and have fun.
