Electronics developer and manufacturer Aquarius has begun developing its own mobile operating system based on the open source AOSP. The company plans to install the operating system on its devices for sale in the government, corporate and consumer sectors.

Another mobile operating system based on AOSP will appear in Russia

The company plans to register the operating system in the registry of the Ministry of Digital Development to receive preferences in public procurement and tax benefits, Kommersant writes.

The department reported that no applications have been received from Aquarius to register the operating system, but if the system appears and passes the exam, it will be included in the registry.

Experts are confident that soon the ministry will have to regulate the number of operating systems in the registry.

  • Aquarius plans to invest 40 billion rubles until 2026 to expand production and create new products, in particular televisions, watches and smart speakers. To this end, the electronics manufacturer asks the government to partially co-finance projects, introduce sales incentives through preferential loans and limit parallel imports of foreign electronic products.
