The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of the Russian Federation has opened a case against Yandex for inappropriate advertising distribution, the service said in a statement.

FAS opened a case against Yandex for improper advertising

A citizen contacted the antitrust agency with a complaint about an advertisement from the organization “Job 5” – this company offered services for writing essays, term papers and dissertations. The advertisement was distributed on the Yandex search engine.

The FAS recalled that “the law prohibits publishing advertisements for work preparation services to pass state scientific certification or exams in educational institutions.”

The department opened a case after seeing signs of violation of the advertising law in relation to the advertiser “Work 5” and the advertising distributor Yandex LLC.

If a violation is determined, both companies will be held administratively responsible.

The day before, the FAS also opened a case against Rosbank for violating the advertising law.
