So officially attacks on someone’s infrastructure are carried out from Russian IP addresses, but in reality they are carried out from abroad. Hackers have learned to bypass geolocation blocking (GeoIP) and thus hack Russian network devices.

According to Qrator Labs, hackers are using “grey proxy servers hosted in Russia.” Home Wi-Fi routers, hosting devices, and mobile devices can serve as such devices.

As noted, 22.3 million IP addresses were blocked in Q4 2023; this is 120% and 19.25% more than in Q2 and Q3 2023, respectively.
