saffron. One study found that men with erectile dysfunction who took 200-milligram saffron tablets for 10 days noticed an increase in the number and duration of erections. Another study published in the journal Human Psychopharmacology found that 30 mg of saffron per day was associated with increased arousal and higher levels of natural lubrication in women.

Avocado. It contains healthy unsaturated fats that are important for hormonal health. Avocado also contains folic acid, which produces histamine. This compound is released during orgasm or arousal.

pistachios. A small study published in the International Journal of Impotence Research showed that pistachios may have aphrodisiac properties. However, only 17 men who had erectile dysfunction for at least 12 months participated in this study. After three weeks of eating 100 grams of pistachios a day, their sex drive increased.

Poppy. Men given maca daily for 12 weeks reported an increase in sexual desire and overall sexual health. Another study found a positive association between maca consumption and increased libido in postmenopausal women with low libido.

red ginseng. Research has shown that this herb has many possible health benefits, including the ability to increase libido. Red ginseng, in particular, improves erectile dysfunction and slows down premature ejaculation.

Fruits. Foods rich in flavonoids are associated with a lower risk of erectile dysfunction. Additionally, research published in Pharmacognosy Review showed that flavonoids can improve sperm quality in men.
