Facial recognition system developer VisionLabs, controlled by MTS since 2022, has launched a new direction as part of its product strategy to expand its technology portfolio: the company will develop artificial intelligence solutions for medicine. This was reported in a VisionLabs press release.
The company’s first technology in the medical field was the recognition of malignant kidney tumors using computed tomography (CT) images.
The solution is based on pre-trained neural networks that automatically find and localize volumetric areas in the image that differ in density from the surrounding kidney tissue. The company notes that this will increase the speed of initial image processing and optimize the doctor’s work.
The technology works with CT images of the abdominal region taken without contrast enhancement. The system accepts an encrypted file in DICOM format as input and extracts a medical image from it. After this, the image is segmented into groups of pixels and malignant formations are detected from them.
In conclusion, the solution provides a response in the format necessary for processing by an external system, indicating the presence of the pathology, its location, size, density and classification. Processing an image and generating a report takes an average of 2 to 3 minutes.
The system does not perform diagnostics on its own.
VisionLabs plans to expand the use of the service, as well as create new ones with recognition of pathologies of the liver and adrenal glands, as well as aortic aneurysm and urolithiasis.
